Winter Shorts is comprised of six one act plays written by local playwrights in the Fairbanks area produced by the University of Alaska Fairbanks Student Drama Association (SDA). The entire production is directed by students in SDA. The six comedies touch on current social topics and issues along with some intense dramatic pieces. Each one act play will range from 10-25 minutes, with a total running time of 75 minutes. SDA welcomes all those who are interested to come watch and support all the students and local artists.

Tessanne and Jeremy try to entertain themselves while the power is out at their house. Though it starts with them trying not to be bored, the conversation leans towards where their relationship stands.

Monica is trying to finish her presentation for the Ocean Conservancy, but finds out a disturbing secret about Lawrence. She learns that all of Lawrence’s weird quirks were actually him polluting the planet on a huge scale.

Lucas, along with a couple of his friends find evidence of a possible murder. Though everyone is convinced it was Lucas’ sister that was murdered, he is convinced she is still alive somewhere.

Rockman and Gravel Girl are trapped by The Demon in another dastardly plot of his. However, Gravel Girl feels that her position as sidekick to Rockman is not paying up as much as it should. So she uses The Demon’s plot to her advantage to get a raise.

Carolyn and Miles try to fix their unhealthy relationship by meeting at a cafe. Though as they look back on how events occurred in the past at that same cafe, it is clear that these two were not meant to be together.

Melanie is moving on from her ex Andrew. However, her phone seems to have a different plan and tries to set her back up with him before it is too late. Melanie’s phone shows us that sometimes phones need us as much as we need them.
