In the twenty years following the 1896 discovery of gold in the Klondike, Alaska developed its agricultural and mineral resources, birthed a structure of highway and railroad transportation, and founded the cities we know today.  From 1896 to 1916, Alaska benefited greatly as Congress responded in many ways to the growing needs of the nation’s northern possession.  Presenter: Tom Alton
