Cindy Wright has joined the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner as its advertising and marketing director.

Wright previously worked at the News-Miner from 2013 to 2017 as an advertising sales representative. She left for a broadcast and cable sales position in the Anchorage area and returned to the News-Miner in late March of this year.

She began working in retail sales in the early 1980s in Ketchikan and Fairbanks.

She has a bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Alaska Fairbanks, and in 1988, taught in Kodiak, the Northwest Arctic Borough School District and Fairbanks.

In 1995, Wright became owner of television station KTNL-TV in Sitka, working as the sales director and commercial producer. During the 2000s, Wright received the Alaska Broadcasters Association’s award for best commercial producer while working at KTVF-Channel 11 in Fairbanks and promoting the station’s award-winning news team.

Wright’s community involvement includes being a member of the following organizations: Downtown Fairbanks Rotary Club, UAF Alumni Association board of directors, board member of the Fairbanks Drama Association and Fairbanks Children’s Theatre, serving as president for the past six years.

She and her husband, Bill Wright, have four children.
