JUNEAU, Alaska — Cindy Bremner has been elected mayor of the City and Borough of Yakutat.

The Juneau Empire reports (http://is.gd/GfGGzu) she defeated incumbent Dave Stone 140-79 in Tuesday's election for the two-year term.

Her priority is looking at ways to reduce the high costs of energy in the borough, and would like to see alternative energy seriously considered.

Bremner is a board member and former chief executive of Yak-tat Kwaan, Inc., an Alaska Native village corporation, and she's looking to use that experience for greater cooperation among groups in the borough.
