FAIRBANKS — A Tok man is facing a felony assault charge for allegedly kicking his cousin in the face with steel-toed cowboy boots and breaking his nose.
Frank Randolph Gene, 46, was arrested by Alaska State Troopers Saturday in Tetlin on a charge of second-degree assault. He is being held at Fairbanks Correctional Center on $10,000 bail.
Troopers interviewed the victim at the Tetlin health clinic after being called to the clinic for a reported domestic assault. The man had a serious laceration on his right eyebrow and was covered in blood, according to charging documents.
A witness told troopers he saw Gene kick the man in the face, though no reason for the attack was given in the criminal complaint. The victim suffered a broken nose and was not able to see out of his right eye.
When troopers interviewed Gene, he denied kicking his cousin and said he received his injuries because he fell down. Gene was arrested and taken to the Tok trooper office. There, upon closer examination, troopers found what appeared to be dried blood on his steel-toed cowboy boots.
