Sept. 7, 2000 — Fairbanks attorney Warren A. Taylor II has been suspended by the Alaska Supreme Court for a plethora of violations of the Alaska Bar Association’s rules of professional conduct.

Among other things, Taylor admitted having a sexual relationship with a client, lying to another and practicing while under administrative suspension. In all, records showed 16 rules violations.

25 YEARS AGO

Sept. 7, 1985 — A police sting operation that led to charges against nine liquor store clerks for selling alcohol to minors is likely to be used again, the city police chief said.

Meanwhile, some liquor store owners said they have stringent training programs for employees and are screening buyers as best they can.

“The problem is tennagers don’t look like teenagers anymore,” said Thrifty Liquor manager Maria Reed.

50 YEARS AGO

Sept. 7, 1960 — Airlines competing for new trans-Pacific routes began two days of argument before the Civil Aeronautics Board today.

Rep. Ralph J. Rivers, D-Alaska, supported the application of Pan American World Airways for new routes from the East and Midwest to the Orient over the great circle route by way of Fairbanks.

Rivers said the proposed services would mean a minimum of $750,000 in gross receipts from fuel sales and landing fees in Fairbanks in addition to expanded payrolls.

75 YEARS AGO

Sept. 7, 1935 — Inauguration of a campaign to make Alaska as well known throughout all of the United States as it is in the Pacific Coast states will be urged on the residents of the northern territory by Delegate Anthony J. Dimond when he visits his homeland this fall.
