With September here already, I wanted to pass along this reminder of summer sent to us by Lana Hebert of North Pole.

It was taken on a warm day, Aug. 1, with the temperature in the low 80s. The moose saw the pool and decided to take a dip.

The two moose made numerous return trips to the plastic pool in the weeks that followed and did not cause serious damage, Hebert said.

"The only damage to the pool was the nylon cover that goes on top to keep the leaves out," she said. "The moose put a small tear in it, but other than that they have been very gentle with using it. It's not really that dirty, but I do have a filter and I put chlorine in it to keep the water sanitized."

"I'm just glad they have been very hospitable and not  leaving droppings or completely tearing up the pool," she said.

She said they haven't been back for the last week or so. Summer's over.
