Sept. 2 — Thursday Fun Hike, Birch Hill Rec Area, 7 p.m. Meet at the upper parking lot by the warming hut. Hike will last about 1.5 hours  John Risser, 488-6500.

Sept. 4-6 — Kesugi Ridge. Three days and two nights on the trail. We'll hike from the Little Coal Creek trailhead to the Byers Lake trailhead. Total distance about 30 miles. The trail climbs from the valley floor to above treeline, winds through spectacular rock formations and past alpine lakes and offers awesome views of Denali when the weather cooperates. The blueberries may slow us down some. Meet at the Little Coal Creek trailhead at 9 a.m. to shuttle vehicles. You might want to drive down Friday evening and spend the night at either the Denali View North or Byer's Lake campgrounds. Call hike leader for details and car pooling info. John Risser, 488-6500.

Sept. 9 —  Thursday Fun Hike, West Ridge University Ski Trails, 7 p.m. Meet at the pullout on W. Tanana Drive/Sheep Creek. Go south on the Parks Highway and take the Sheep Creek exit. At the railroad tracks turn right, the pullout is about 50 yards on the right. Hike will last about 1.5 hours depending on the group. Larry Hall, 452-0593.

Sept. 16 — Thursday Fun Hike, Moose Creek Bluff, 7 p.m. The hike is about 2 hours and goes through forested areas over the bluff. The parking area, (if you're coming from North Pole or Fairbanks) is the first left exit from the Richardson Highway after you cross over the Chena Flood Control bridge. Carol Lokken, 479-5419.

Sept. 23 — Thursday Fun Hike, Isberg Trails. Park at the pullout on the right about a mile down Isberg Rd. from Chena Ridge Rd. Follow Chena Ridge Rd to Isberg Rd, then Isberg Rd to the pullout on the right at about 1/3 mile. If there are more cars than there is room to park, people can park on Festival Drive, on the side of the road and then walk down to the trail head. Festival Drive is just before the pullout. Ginny Schlichting, 479-1296.
