The Public Safety Report is compiled from criminal complaints filed in state and federal courts, as well as some police blotter information, trooper dispatches, fire department reports and interviews with public safety officials. Individuals named as arrested and/or charged with crimes in this report are presumed innocent until proved guilty in a court of law. Assault

• Kevin C. Stevens, 54, of Fairbanks, was charged with fourth-degree assault after he allegedly punched a nurse Tuesday morning in the behavioral health wing of Fairbanks Memorial Hospital, where he was staying. Stevens reportedly was upset with a lack of water and that the nurse was on a computer.

Hospital staff told police that Stevens was not on any medication and they did not believe he was suffering from any mental illness, according to charging documents. He was discharged from the hospital and arrested following the incident.

• Jason Dale Walker, 43, was charged with third-degree felony assault after he allegedly pulled a knife on another man early Wednesday morning on University Avenue near Sam’s Sourdough Cafe.

The victim reportedly asked Walker if he had any rolling papers, and Walker responded by pulling out a folding knife, which he then threw on the ground. Walker, who was intoxicated, fled the scene but was quickly contacted nearby, according to charging documents.

• Jesse Benjamin Weaver, 62, was charged with fourth-degree assault after he allegedly bound his girlfriend and hit her on the forehead Tuesday.
