Through games played Wednesday evening, neither the age 17U team nor the 16U squad managed to post a victory in pool play, but 17U squad did earn a win once bracket play began Wednesday afternoon.
The 17U Flight went 0-3 in pool play before beating Team Game Point 74-44 in the opening round of bracket play.
Every player on the team got into the scoring column, according to coach Keenan Hollister. Dominque Queen of West Anchorage tallied 18 points and Ryden Hines of Dimond added 11.
In its final two pool play games, the 17U squad suffered a 60-52 triple-overtime loss to BTI Double Pump and a 69-60 setback to YBA Black.
Hines had 15 points and 12 rebounds, while North Pole’s Jesse Ward tallied 13 points and grabbed six rebounds in the triple overtime loss.
Christian Leckband of Nome tallied 13 points, Christian Brockert of Cordova added 10 and Ward scored eight in the loss to YBA Black.
Other Interior players on the team include Ray Streeter of Lathrop and Josh Holliman of North Pole.
The 16U team opened pool play by suffering an 84-23 loss to Double Pump Elite, a team comprised of NCAA Division I prospects from throughout California, according to Hollister
Kendall Brown of West Anchorage led the Alaska squad with 15 points.
The 16U squad also suffered a 66-46 loss to Norcal Pump and Run. Tony Yadao of Juneau led the Alaska team with 15 points, Brown added 14 and AJ Scott of North Pole tallied four.
Other Interior players on the tam are Mike Hale of North Pole and Everett Green of Lathrop. Hale didn’t play in the first pool-play game because of an eye injury.
The 17U team will play another bracket game today, against the winner of a Wednesday night matchup. The 16U team plays its final pool play game this morning and could play its first bracket game later in the day, depending upon the outcome of their first game.
