Letter to the Editor

July 25, 2010

To the editor:

The word for today and everyday for the rest of our lives is “love.” An individual cannot be brought into this world without pure love. Pure love is what you feel when protecting a toddler from harm.

The lack of honest self love keeps people from progressing forward. Love helps the individual become who he/she was meant to be, a value creator.

We did not become who we are overnight. Through time we became who we are today. Visionary Mark Hamilton, founder of the Neothink Society, said, “Honesty requires love, so we all should start from there.”

Through time we will have this honest love of self. We are at the turning point of our future. The most accurate clock in the world, the Mayan Calendar ends on Dec. 21, 2012. Their belief is that every person is born for a reason. That is why their clock is the most accurate and why their numerical system does not need memorizing. Do your own research, because each journey requires the first step.

As I understand it Neothink rejects mysticism, while you embrace mystical aspects of Mayan society. If it works for you, great! I’m all for love and honesty, but as an agnostic, I see Neothink in the same light as humanism, an attempt to fill mankind’s “God-Need” while not mentioning the “G-Word”.

Love ya’ man!

The hardest thing for me to do is to forgive, pray for and love someone who has really done me wrong. My instinct is vengeance. But, in my believe. I have to forgive before God can work on them.

What usually happens is God shows me that if I am put in a similar situation I may do the same thing to someone else that was done to me. Or I learn something about that person that I really admire or envy. Either way, I grow up a little bit and become a better human being.

Now that is learning real LOVE.

I beg to differ- individuals are brought into this world fairly routinely with no love in sight.

Mayan calendars, Christian fables, eastern and western philosphies alike- it'd be a much better world if we prescribed to the recurring idea that we all need to get along. It's only the rich, the powerful, those who stand to gain, who stir up religious fanaticism and violence in the name of "God". Our own "leaders" are no different today.

The Mayans were big on slavery and human sacrifice. The letter writer is delusional.

Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

This is the first and great commandment.

And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.

On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

You can disagree with the "religious" aspects of this, but I would ask everyone to at least consider the second one. I try to remember it every day as I go along in life. I usually fail at it, but I have made a few baby steps in the right direction.

I don't know about the Mayan thing, but I do agree that you should do your own research.
