It’s Breast Cancer Awareness Night at the Carlson Center for the Grizzlies’ Indoor Footbal League contest against the Alaska Wild. Fans are encourged to wear pink for the game that starts at 7 p.m.
Pink is the color which represents the battle and a search for a cure for the disease. Breast cancer, according to the Website BreastCancer.org, affects one in eight women in the United States.
There is a ticket special for tonight’s game. Fans can buy one at regular price and get a second ticket for the same type of seat at half the price. Outlet fees apply.
This is the fourth and final meeting of the season between the Grizzlies, who are in second place in the Intense Conference Pacific North Division with a 4-2 record, and the Wild of Anchorage, who are in fourth with a 2-5 mark.
The Grizzlies lead the season series at 2-1, earning both wins at Sullivan Arena in Anchorage (29-28 on Feb. 28 and 31-30 on April 1). The Wild won 53-36 in the Carlson Center on March 20.
The Grizzlies last played on April 10, falling 44-39 to the expansion Tri-Cities Fever in Kennewick, Wash. The Wild are coming off of a 65-25 loss to the division-leading Billings Outlaws in Montana last Saturday.
The Grizzlies’ Lonnie Sanders is ranked in the top 10 in the IFL in two categories. Sanders, who has played in every game for Fairbanks this season, is tied fourth for touchdown receptions with 10 and he’s tied for seventh for overall receptions with 29 for 440 yards.
Alaska receiver Steven Whitehead ranks fourth for all-purpose yards with 606 in six games.
