Palin says nation should rededicate itself to God

RALEIGH, N.C. - Sarah Palin says the United States should rededicate itself to seeking God's will, arguing that a humble spirit could help leaders get more answers on issues such as health care, energy and national security.

In a video released Friday by the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, the 2008 Republican candidate for vice president said it's important for leaders to acknowledge they don't have all the answers.

"No one person has all the right answers," Palin said. "It takes a united nation, and it does take godly counsel, and it takes prayer and answers to prayer - and a collective humble heart of a nation seeking God's hand of protection and his blessings of prosperity. I think if we can get back to that, our country will be a safer, more prosperous and healthier nation."

The former Alaska governor referred to an Abraham Lincoln proclamation that declared a day of national humiliation, fasting, and prayer. She said the United States has been "touched by God" because the nation's early leaders dedicated the country to God.

"If we could get back to that - that humbleness, with that kind of contrite spirit - I think that we would be able to be provided more of the answers to so many of the great challenges that we're facing," Palin said. "And these are huge challenges, whether we're talking about health care, whether we're talking about energy independence, whether we're talking about national security measures."

Parts of Palin's interview with the Billy Graham group have been released since she traveled a couple weeks ago to meet the aging religious leader at his western North Carolina home, where they dined and prayed. Franklin Graham, who now leads the Charlotte-based association his father founded, said he has been impressed by Palin's commitment to faith, family and country.

In the videos, Palin talked about some of the "shots" she takes in the media and in politics.

"God strengthens me through the challenges," Palin said, adding that she believes in a line from the Bible she paraphrased as: "What the enemy seeks to destroy you with, no, God is going to turn it around for good."

"God has so blessed me in really manifesting that promise over and over and over in my life," she said.

Billy Graham, 91, has been a counsel to presidents and politicians for decades, though he now remains largely secluded due to deteriorating health. Palin was visiting North Carolina last month as part of a book tour for her new memoir, "Going Rogue."

There is a lot of talk regarding the Founding Fathers being deist. However, this is what the Library of Congress (NOT some right wing or left wing group) has to say about the role of faith in the country and founding fathers, with accompanying texts and proofs http://www.loc.gov/exhibits/religion/rel04.html

Actually Bump only 3 of the 204 founding fathers were Catholic. But why let the facts get in the way of a little historical revisionism?

"The founding fathers were most certainly all Deists...".

I think that that is an exaggeration. There were some deists (not a proper noun), but the majority of whom we refer to as founding fathers were Protestants and Catholics.

But why let the facts get in the way of a little historical revisionism?

"What the enemy seeks to destroy you with, no, God is going to turn it around for good."

"God has so blessed me in really manifesting that promise over and over and over in my life," at hasn't converted to palintology

Who are these "enemies"? Good patriotic Americans exercising their right to free speech? Does the idiot-queen even realize that she will need those "enemies" support IF she ever wants to run for president? Oh right- her only interest, since the beginning, was to MAKE MONEY, nothing less nothing more.

Everybody that voted for her got duped, just like they're getting duped now- buying a book that wasn't even written by "Sarah" (and she's supposed to have a DEGREE in JOURNALISM...go figure.)

There's a global religious crisis!

The Amish are roaming the streets beating on Aussies, Brits, etc.!

The baptists are immigrating into countries with no interest in workforce contributions !

The Seventh-day Adventists won't assimilate into other societies because their religion forbids it!

The Methodists are beating and killing their women for not having sex on demand !

The Mormons are committing honor killings!

The Quakers are suicide-bombing again!

And I'm pretty sure a Catholic shot a bunch of fellow soldiers up.

Obongo says it's all some obscure mystery.

Even Christopher Hitchens has enough sense to see what's going on.

The founding fathers were most certainly all Deists and based on the set of beliefs that Deists hold, it is improbable that they would have, (in her words) 'dedicated the nation to God.'

Puppy is still rambling on about irrelevant crap and OP still thinks idiotic pictures are a substitute for logic.

You people seem to forget that Palin will be on exactly ZERO election ballots next year. Every candidate with a D next to their name will be associated with Obama and every thing he stands for. The next election, much like the last, will determined by who is motivated to vote. The only person who can motivate the conservative base more then Palin is Obama and both of them are going to be motivating like crazy.

God, I pray that if the Evangelists ever turn this country into a theocracy that you give me the courage and strength to escape their re-education camps and flee to a place I can worship freely, of my own will and as I choose... not how the great Right-wing dictator deems I worship!

Now if we could just get Andrew Briseno to resurrect himself and weigh in on this article my day will be complete.

I suspect Andrew is being interrogated in a secret prison ( torture chamber) in Syria or the one in the Balkin States.

Wonder where Todd is though? You know, the one who is a Palin fan and resents the bashing of her. The one who clones Terrence Cole and wants us to be men and post with our real names.

I was looking for a picture of Todd and found it.The best part of my nosing around was I came across a very unique fellow who I had worked with on the pipeline. Besides working full time, while we were in town, he used to get into his pickup as soon as the bus got us back to camp (Wainwright) and then go out to his mining claim and work most of the night. I don't know what he did for sleep but more than once I saw saw him nodded out on the back of a side boom as it was cruising down the pipeline corridor. He was the swamper and somehow kept from falling off and getting busted up because the operator who allegedly was the best side boom operator in the world used to go like a rocket as he strung his pipe out..Interesting fellow, always a gentleman, and apparently driven like few people are... I guess gold fever can do that or so they say.
