FAIRBANKS - Steve Titus, the state’s regional director for the state Department of Transportation and Public Facilities, will continue to lead the Fairbanks community’s urban transportation policy board as chairman, the board decided Tuesday.

The board — the Policy Committee for the Fairbanks Metropolitan Area Transportation Systems — voted to leave the committee’s gavel in Titus’ hands for a third year. Fairbanks city Mayor Terry Strle will serve as vice chairwoman.

The seven-member committee comprises the state’s regional transportation chief, the community’s three mayors and a handful of state and municipal leaders. It has led key votes on, in recent years, the design for a rebuild of Illinois Street and a plan to upgrade Phillips Field Road.

That is such a comfort. I have attended several of the FMATS meetings... she thoroughly impressed me. She is a bigger idiot in person than she is on TV.
