WASHINGTON - The White House says President Barack Obama's first visit to Alaska, originally scheduled for Veterans Day, has been postponed until Thursday.

Obama will attend a memorial service at Fort Hood on Tuesday and now won't get to Asia until one day later than expected.

The president was to leave Washington on Wednesday, stop at Alaska's Elmendorf Air Force Base in Anchorage to refuel Air Force One, then arrive in Tokyo on Thursday. But an official familiar with Obama's schedule says Obama now plans to get to Japan on Friday.

The White House has said the Elmendorf stop will include servicemen and servicewomen. It's unclear whether the event will be open to the public.

Obama told the Anchorage Daily News last year that he hasn't been to Alaska.

Its always an honor to have the president of the United States visit Alaska. I just wished he would come to Fairbanks to see how the ignorant live.

I am sure that the delay was due to the fact that no one was going to show up on a holiday to see this IDIOT. Now the commanders at Elmendorf and Ft. Rich can require active duty personnel to be at the hanger to listen to the BS this guy will be spilling. He needs to just STAY AWAY from Alaska!

Pray for bad weather and a re-route to Siberia.

Hopefully someone in his entourage informed him this is one of the 50 states. Godspeed Obama! And if you decide to stay in Asia and never come back, that's OK too. Could you take Kerry, Pelosi, Reid, and Soros along with you?
