Assault
• Two men are accused of beating a bouncer Sunday outside the Arctic Bar.
Dereck Jon Albert and Helium Unaliina Edwarsen, both 27-year-olds from Fairbanks, have each been charged with one count of fourth-degree assault.
The bouncer was attempting to break up a fight, according to a criminal complaint filed in court.
• Cassandra W. Aker, 18, of North Pole, was charged with fourth-degree assault after she allegedly struck a woman in the back of her head Saturday on Fort Wainwright.
Aker was reportedly upset that the woman was at a party on Cedar Street. She allegedly tried to kick out the windows of a Fort Wainwright police car and kick at an officer, who pepper-sprayed her, according to a criminal complaint filed in court.
She also was charged with resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.
• A Fairbanks man ripped up his daughter’s schoolwork because he was upset about her getting a babysitting job, court documents allege.
Stephen Brett Granger, 43, has been charged with two counts of fourth-degree assault and one count of misdemeanor criminal mischief.
The alleged incident occurred Thursday at Granger’s home while his wife and daughter were gone, following an argument. He also is accused of using a hammer to destroy his daughter’s dresser and glass closet door.
Granger’s wife and daughter fled the home in fear, according to a criminal complaint filed in court.
His daughter told Alaska State Troopers that Granger threw a phone at her earlier this month.
• Henry Mark Hillstrand, 26, of Homer, was charged with two counts of fourth-degree assault after he allegedly punched two security guards Saturday at the Carlson Center. Security tried to stop Hillstrand when he would not pay for a drink, and he attempted to run through the arena’s kitchen to get away, according to a criminal complaint filed in court.
• Jody Ryan Moses, 34, of Fairbanks, was charged with two counts of fourth-degree assault after he allegedly charged another man Sunday when the man would not give him any chewing tobacco. Moses also is accused of spitting at a trooper sergeant.
• A Nulato man is accused of chasing his father down the street with a 2-by-4.
Frederick Stickman, 23, has been charged with one count of third-degree assault, a felony.
The alleged incident occurred Saturday in Nulato.
Stickman’s father said there was a fight between the two as well, and he appeared to have been assaulted, according to a criminal complaint filed in court.
Stickman reportedly admitted to chasing his father with a 2-by-4, but denied any other assault took place.
• Jemille Antwain Ward, 23, was charged with fourth-degree assault after he allegedly threw his wife to the ground and kicked her Saturday on University Avenue near Goldizen Avenue. Ward was reportedly upset that the woman might be pregnant. He told authorities he was helping her to the car because she was sick, according to a criminal complaint filed in court.
• Marganna Josephine Yates, 27, of Fairbanks, was charged with fourth-degree assault after she allegedly threatened to stab her husband Saturday and began throwing items around their apartment.
• Joseph W. Zochert, 25, of Fairbanks, was charged with fourth-degree assault after he allegedly punched someone in the face early Saturday morning at Big Al’s Pizza.
• Lawrence Crow, 34, of Circle, was charged with fourth-degree assault on Monday. He is accused of striking a man multiple times.
Burglary
Fairbanks police received a report Monday that a home in the 2100 block of Hilton Avenue might have been burglarized earlier this month. The home appeared to be used as a “flophouse,” according to police records.
DUI
• Ronald M. Allen Jr., 22, of Fairbanks, was charged with driving under the influence after troopers stopped him for weaving on College Road near Westwood Drive. A chemical test found his breath-alcohol content to be 0.112. The legal limit to operate a motor vehicle is 0.08.
• Walter Robert Carlson, 21, of Fairbanks, was charged with driving under the influence after University of Alaska Fairbanks police pulled him over Friday on Chena Pump Road, near Chena Ridge Road, for driving with one headlight. A chemical test found his breath-alcohol content to be 0.106.
• Jeremy L. Drotzur, 23, of Fairbanks, was charged with driving under the influence after troopers performed a welfare check on him Friday near the Lathrop Street dike. A chemical test found his breath-alcohol content to be 0.085.
• Brent A. Duquette, 25, of Fairbanks, was charged with driving under the influence after troopers attempted to pull him over Sunday morning on the Steese Highway, near Chena Hot Springs Road. Duquette allegedly kept going south on the Steese and made a U-turn before stopping near City Lights Boulevard. He had bloodshot, watery eyes and slurred speech at the time of his arrest, according to a criminal complaint filed in court.
He also was charged with refusal to submit to a chemical test and failure to stop at the direction of a peace officer.
• Timothy A. Ford, 23, of Fairbanks, was charged with driving under the influence after Fort Wainwright police found him slumped over the steering wheel of a vehicle Saturday. A chemical test found his breath-alcohol content to be 0.204.
• Trisha Doreen Gilbert, 23, of Fairbanks, was charged with driving under the influence after University of Alaska Fairbanks police stopped her Saturday for weaving on University Avenue near Geist Road. A chemical test found her breath-alcohol content to be 0.191.
• Daniel Hernandez, 48, of Delta Junction, was charged with felony driving under the influence after Fairbanks police received a report late Sunday night that someone was running red lights on Airport Way. Hernandez was pulled over near the Airport and Peger Road intersection. A chemical test found his breath-alcohol content to be 0.126.
• David Alexander Joe Jr., 15, was charged with driving under the influence after Fairbanks police pulled him over early Saturday morning for driving without headlights on 20th Avenue near Cushman Street. A chemical test found his breath-alcohol content to be 0.152. He also was charged with driving without a valid license.
• David Benjamin Machacek, 33, was charged with driving under the influence after troopers pulled him over for weaving Sunday on Airport Way near Market Street. A chemical test found his breath-alcohol content to be 0.107.
• Christopher Blain Mayrand, 22, of Nenana, was charged with driving under the influence after troopers responded to the scene of a vehicle rollover Sunday on Kittiwake Drive, near Ballaine Road. A chemical test found his breath-alcohol content to be 0.123.
• Jarrett N. Neff, 30, of Fairbanks, was charged with driving under the influence after Fairbanks police witnessed him speeding early Saturday morning near Airport Way and Cowles Street. A chemical test found his breath-alcohol content to be 0.148.
• Benjamin S. Sedinger, 25, of Fairbanks, was charged with driving under the influence after troopers noticed him fail to stop at a posted sign Sunday on Goldstream Road near the Old Steese Highway. A chemical test found his breath-alcohol content to be 0.147.
• Jeffrey Lee Walker, 35, of Fort Wainwright, was charged with driving under the influence after Fairbanks police pulled him over Friday night for making “abrupt turns” near Airport Way and Noble Street. A chemical test found his breath-alcohol content to be 0.109.
• Jacob Peter Webb, 38, was charged with driving under the influence after troopers stopped him Sunday while investigating an incident at the Arctic Bar. A chemical test found his breath-alcohol content to be 0.125.
Drugs
Troopers were notified Friday that a 17-year-old male student of West Valley High School possessed marijuana while on school grounds. Troopers confiscated the marijuana and turned the teen over to his parents.
The teen faces possible felony drug charges, according to trooper records.
Failure to register
Rodney Dean Jones, 48, of Kotzebue, was charged with failure to register as a sex offender after Fairbanks police contacted him Saturday on an unrelated matter in the downtown area and found he was not up-to-date with the state’s registry.
Multiple charges
Authorities allegedly found a meth pipe on a woman arrested Monday on suspicion of shoplifting.
Jessica Lynn Wilcox, 22, of Anchorage, has been charged with second-degree theft and fourth-degree drugs misconduct. Both charges are felonies.
Personnel at Fred Meyer West stopped Wilcox from leaving the store after she tried to walk out without paying for more than $570 worth of clothing, according to a criminal complaint filed in court.
While under arrest, the loss-prevention officer spotted the pipe fall out of Wilcox’s pocket, court documents allege.
Theft
• A black laptop valued at about $1,000 was reported stolen Sunday from a Stanford Drive home.
• Troopers received a report Monday that someone recently stole a credit card from a mailbox in the Moonlight Drive area of North Pole and racked up about $200 in fraudulent charges.
Vandalism
Troopers received a report Monday that someone vandalized the Road Weather Information System near Mentasta, causing about $10,000 worth of damage.
Vehicle theft
• Raymond Malmquist, 28, of Anchorage was charged with felony vehicle theft stemming from accusations he stole a 1997 GMC Yukon from Fort Wainwright earlier this month.
According to court documents, someone broke a window to gain entry to the vehicle. A set of keys were inside.
Malmquist was reportedly seen behind the wheel on the Parks Highway where he crashed it, records stated.
• A silver 2007 Polaris Sportsman ATV was stolen Saturday or Sunday from the Dennis Road area. The owner is offering a $1,000 reward for the return of the vehicle. Anyone with information about the theft is asked to call troopers at
451-5100.
• An ATV valued at about $4,000 was reported stolen Sunday morning from University Avenue near Goldizen Drive.
• A 125cc Yamaha dirt bike was stolen overnight Saturday from a home in the 1400 block of Aurora Drive. The bike owner told police that the thieves also might have let the air out of one of his truck tires.
Vehicle vs. moose
• Troopers found a calf moose with a broken leg Saturday morning on the side of 3 Mile Nistler Road in Delta Junction. The moose, which had apparently been hit by a car, had to be put down. It was salvaged by a local charity.
•A calf moose that was hit by an unknown vehicle was found Sunday morning near 1394 Mile Alaska Highway. The moose was salvaged by a local charity.
Fraud
A 55-year-old Fairbanks man reported to troopers he ordered $1,000 worth of comic books on eBay only to receive a box full of toiletries. The seller was from California.
Crash with injuries
A North Pole man was airlifted to Fairbanks Memorial Hospital last weekend after he went off the Dalton Highway when debris from a truck hit his windshield, shattering it, a trooper report stated.
Joseph Wenger was treated and released for injuries to his chest and lower back, the report stated. He had worn a seat belt.
The accident happened at 136 Mile and troopers learned of it about 2:30 a.m. Saturday, the report stated.
Wenger went into a ditch and was extricated from his vehicle, which sustained extensive damage, according to the report.
