JUNEAU, Alaska - Gov. Sean Parnell has appointed an assistant public defender to the Dillingham Superior Court.

Pat Douglass will replace the retiring Judge Fred Torrisi.

Parnell says Douglass' breadth of legal experience and close ties to the community will serve her well on the bench.

Parnell's office says Douglass earned a juris doctorate from the South Texas College of Law and has had experience with a diverse civil and criminal caseload during a career that's spanned nearly 25 years. She also has taught legal courses in Israel, Russia and Ukraine, and has been an assistant public defender in Dillingham since 2003.
