FAIRBANKS - Fairbanks police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the body of a female found late Wednesday in the area of the Richardson Highway and Badger Road.

The body is described as that of a white female, about 5 feet 5 inches to 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing about 150 or 160 pounds. The body has been sent to the state medical examiner for an autopsy.

Lt. Dan Welborn said Thursday evening that police received a call from a passerby just before 9 p.m. Wednesday. He said police are releasing only limited and general information at this time. Details such as age, clothing and approximate date and time of death are being withheld.

Anyone concerned about a friend, neighbor or family member fitting the general description is asked to call Welborn at 450-6566 or Detective Peyton Meredith at 450-6553.

“And if anyone knows of anything happening (Wednesday) in that general area that might be related to this, we would certainly like to hear about it,” Welborn said.

Contact the newsroom at 459-7572.
