•A Berlin Wall likeness is to be built Friday at UAF outside Wood Center and remain standing for the weekend.

The work of the UAF art department and members of the German Club is to be torn down Monday evening after a panel discussion concerning the 20th anniversary of the destruction of the real Berlin Wall.
Its removal in 1989 helped advance the cause and speed the unification of Germany.
"The wall will feature graffiti highlighting the theme 'freedom without walls' and will be up over the weekend for people to add their own graffiti. On Monday, Nov. 9 at 7 p.m. in Room 201 of the Reichardt Building, the group will host a free public panel discussion with professors and students who will speak about the enduring legacy of this important historical event," a UAF announcement says.

After that, the wall will come tumbling down.
