ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Alaska State Troopers say a man has been fatally shot by a Bethel police officer who was responding to a disturbance report.

The Anchorage Daily News (http://is.gd/qPznvB ) says Bethel police officers headed to a home late Tuesday in the southwest Alaska city.

A trooper dispatch report says the response "resulted in an officer fatally shooting an adult male."

Requests for comment from the Bethel Police Department were not immediately returned.

Troopers say three Bethel-based troopers assisted in case at the police department's request. The troopers secured the scene and additional state personnel with the Alaska Bureau of Investigations flew to Bethel early Wednesday.

The names of the officer and the dead man have not been released.
