JUNEAU, Alaska - U.S. Sen. Mark Begich continues to raise money ahead of his 2014 re-election bid.
The Democrat recently reported raising more than $217,000 from July through September. Much of that came from individual contributions. He got $62,000 from political action committees.
This was comparable to what he raised from April through June.
Begich ended September with more than $681,000 on hand.
Begich defeated the embattled U.S. Sen. Ted Stevens in 2008, becoming the only Democrat in Alaska's congressional delegation.
He is Alaska's junior senator and has been girding for a fight in 2014, though no high-profile Republicans have yet announced plans to challenge him.
