ANCHORAGE, Alaska - Customers are being warned about a string of armed robberies at automated teller bank machines in Anchorage.
KTUU-TV (http://is.gd/zsFuYY) says the robberies have occurred over the last several weeks at two First National Bank Alaska and two Credit Union 1 ATM machines. Security officials say the robber waits until a customer has completed a transaction and then approaches with a gun to demand money.
FNBA security officer Don Krohn says this is the first time in many years that there have been robberies at city ATMs.
Krohn says the suspect enters the ATM area shortly after the victims and demands cash.
Krohn is encouraging bank customers to be aware of their surroundings when using an ATM, especially if there is someone loitering in the immediate area.
