ANCHORAGE, Alaska - Anchorage School District officials say they are issuing layoff notices to 35 teachers and 20 support staffers.

Officials say the teacher layoffs will affect non-tenured positions, mostly middle and high school teachers.

According to officials, employees could be recalled for employment if positions open up over the summer or if there are retirements or resignations.
