ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - Anchorage police say a 44-year-old woman found dead in a church parking lot was an employee of Begich Middle School.

Marya Abramczyk was found dead Tuesday morning in the parking lot of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship at Turnagain Street and West 32nd Avenue in west Anchorage.

Police at first said she was the victim of a homicide.

The Anchorage Daily News ( reports police have backed off that conclusion and are calling the case a death investigation.

Police have not determined how she died.

The dead woman's condominium is about a quarter mile from where she was found.

She worked as a special education support member at the middle school and was employed by the school district since 2002.
