ANCHORAGE, Alaska - Anchorage police say a man who was shot and wounded by officers has been charged with four counts of felony assault.

Police say 22-year-old Kyle Garett Swann was shot in the left arm and remains in a hospital following surgery.

Police say Swann was a passenger in a vehicle that was stopped downtown Sunday evening.

According to police, a computer check showed that Swann had a warrant for his arrest for failing to attend a hearing on drug charges.

Police say that after backup arrived, two officers approached the vehicle when Swann pointed a gun at officers.

Police say the officers fired at Swann. The officers and two other occupants of the vehicle were not injured.

The names of the officers will be released Wednesday.
