ANCHORAGE, Alaska - Anchorage police say a 71-year-old man was stabbed and seriously wounded Thursday and a suspect is in custody.

Boutao Singmanyphet suffered abdominal wounds and is in critical condition.

Police arrested 40-year-old Khonephet Lavivong. He is charged with felony assault.

Both men live in an apartment building in the 1600 block of west 32nd Avenue.

Investigators say Lavivong stabbed Singmanyphet just after 8 a.m. in a common area of the building.

Police say bail will be set at an arraignment Friday.
