FAIRBANKS—Voting for the 2013 class of the Alaska Sports Hall of Fame is now under way online at www.alaskasport shall.org.
Public voting will be open through Nov. 30, Alaska Sports Hall of Fame president Harlow Robinson said.
“The public plays a huge role in the selection process,” Robinson said in a press release. “The people have the power to influence the selection panel with an effective public campaign. And on several occasions, the public vote has determined who ultimately gets inducted.”
The accumulative public vote is the equivalent to the vote of each selection panel member and the public results are reviewed by the panel before they complete their ballots.
The selection panel will meet Dec. 2 in Anchorage and the class of 2013 will be announced at a press conference the next day.
The induction ceremony will be held in February at the Anchorage Museum atrium.
Public voters can vote for five individuals, three moments and three events. One write-in is allowed for each category.
The Alaska Skijoring and Pulk Association is offering a beginner’s clinic Saturday at Alaska Feed Company on College Road and at Creamer’s Field.
The classroom session is at Alaska Feed from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. and is limited to 25 students. The cost is $30 and includes a one year membership to the Alaska Skijoring and Pulk Association.
The classroom session includes equipment, training tips and trail etiquette.
Following the classroom session there will be an on-snow practical session where people will sign up for 30-minute time slots from 2-4 p.m. at Creamer’s Field (weather and trail conditions permitting).
