To the editor:
Alan Dick has been criticizing David Guttenberg for being “that Fairbanks guy.” Yes, David has lived in Fairbanks for more than 40 years.
Every time my kids play at the Goldstream Park and the Ken Kunkel Community Center, I think of how he supported our park. Yes, David Guttenberg has voted consistently to help our community and our kids.
Who is Dick? He lived near Lime Village for a time. Now he rents an apartment in Nenana. His 2010 campaign used a Soldotna address. Most importantly, he voted to raise our taxes and lower our permanent fund dividend by voting for HB 110. This bill would have given billions of our revenues to the oil companies with nothing in return. This would force the state to dramatically cut funding for our school kids, roads and public safety.
Locally, we would have to make up for this in increased taxes and still see drastic cuts, while the oil companies would be giving out higher dividends or investing anywhere in the world. No, thank you.
David Guttenberg has Fairbanks’ interests at heart. David Guttenberg has Alaska’s interests at heart. He will keep Alaska’s money in Alaska.
David Guttenberg has a long track record of working together with people of all parties and persuasions. He’ll represent District 38 fairly and effectively. David Guttenberg has my vote.
