The Alaska Railroad will release its 2013 annual poster and print at three public sale and signing events featuring the artist who created the artwork.

Eagle River artist Susan Watkins will be in Fairbanks signing her work from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 8 at the Fairbanks Depot, 1745 Johansen Expressway. Other signing dates are Nov. 30 in Seward and Dec. 15 in Anchorage.

The piece is titled “Moonlit Resurrection Run” and depicts an Alaska Railroad coal train arriving in Seward in the evening, with a view of Resurrection Bay and the Kenai Mountain Range as a backdrop. The 2013 print costs $55, posters are $30 and pins are $5.

The railroad also is taking submissions from Alaska artists for the annual commemorative artwork program. Submissions will be accepted through Feb. 22 for the 2014 official art print. Submissions should be presented as a single thumbnail sketch no larger than 11 x 17 inches. Submissions should be mailed or delivered in person to Liz Baker, Thompson & Co. Public Relations, 600 Barrow St., suite 400, in Anchorage. For more information, call 907-561-4488.
