ANCHORAGE, Alaska - Alaska authorities say a 60-year-old Palmer man severely burned in an Oct. 3 trash fire has died in a Seattle hospital.

KTUU-TV reports (http://is.gd/9pQPo8 ) that details of the fire are still under investigation because the unidentified victim was initially taken to Mat-Su Regional Medical Center by a relative without 911 assistance. He was then sent to Harborview Medical Center, where he died this week.

State Division of Fire and Life Safety spokesperson Mahlon Greene said Thursday in a statement that because 911 was not activated, there was no response by the fire department or local medics. Alaska State Troopers and the Central Mat-Su Fire Department are investigating.
