PALMER, Alaska - The Alaska State Fair says this year's Giant Cabbage Weigh-Off produced a world record.

An entry by Scott Robb of Palmer came in at 138.25 pounds.

The fair says that's 11 pounds heavier than the previous record set in 2009 by Steve Hubacek.

The fair says on its website (http://bit.ly/gP03Iw) that Hubacek finished second this year with a 126-pound cabbage.

That's just one pound under his previous record.

Third place went to Brian Shunskis, who entered an 94.4-pound cabbage at the weigh-in Friday.

The fair says growers had success despite a summer with rain and cool temperatures.
