FAIRBANKS — Cecilia “Pudge” Kleinkauf, Alaska’s leading woman fly-fishing instructor, fly tier and guide, will be in Fairbanks next month to entertain and instruct local fly fishers.

At the invitation of the Midnight Sun Fly Casters, Big Ray’s Fly Shop and Hoodoo Brewery, Kleinkauf will be in town Oct. 18-20.

On Oct. 18, Kleinkauf will be the guest speaker at the Midnight Sun Fly Casters monthly meeting at Pike’s Waterfront Lodge from 6-9 p.m. Kleinkauf will present her new book, “Pacific Salmon Flies: New Ties & Old Standbys.”

A dinner buffet ($10 adults/$5 children) will be served at 6 p.m., and the presentation will begin at 7 p.m.

On Oct. 19, Kleinkauf will be the guest of honor at a ladies’ night sponsored by Big Ray’s Fly Shop and Hoodoo Brewery. The event is from 5-9 p.m. at Big Ray’s on Second Avenue, and Kleinkauf will be in the fly shop signing books and talking gear and beer. Hoodoo Brewery will be providing giveaways.

On Saturday, Oct. 20, Kleinkauf will teach a fly-tying class at Big Ray’s Fly Shop with patterns from her new book. The class, which is limited to 10 students, is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and cost is $45.
